The Area
The wider area is brimming with history and interesting things to do. It’s a short drive to visit the castles at Camber and Bodiam; the gardens at Great Dixter near Northiam; the restored Kent and East Sussex Railway; the pretty market town and railway museum of Tenterden; the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve; the ancient Abbey commemorating 1066 at Battle.
The sea retreated from Rye town several hundred years ago, but the beach isn’t far away, either. The broad golden sands at Camber and the rocky shingle at Winchelsea are just a few miles from Blue Cottage. Both provide a perfect place to paddle and let the sea air blow the cobwebs away.
